Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc is a non-profit organization.  P.O. Box 23153, Lexington, KY 40523

The Kentucky Society of Radiologic Technologists, Inc. has been actively involved in the legislative process affecting “our” profession at the state and national level for many years.  Since 2000, the society has sent representatives to the American Society of Radiologic Technologist’s RT in DC, a grass roots effort supporting the C.A.R.E. Bill (Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy).  This bill when passed will significantly impact the profession establishing certification standards for personnel who plan and deliver radiation therapy and perform all types of medical imaging exams.  Although the efforts of these individuals have yielded positive results with as many as 7 of 8 Kentucky United States Representatives/United States Senators co-signing the bill, the KSRT, Inc. would ask that you too participate in this grass roots effort by contacting your United States Representative and Untied States Senators expressing your support of the C.A.R.E. Bill.  The links to all of Kentucky’s United States Representatives and Untied States Senators websites are provided.  For more information on how you can help this bill become a law you can contact any KSRT, Inc. Board member, or the ASRT Governance Relations Office.

Since 1981, when the Consumer Patient Health and Safety Act was passed Kentucky has been at the forefront requiring licensure to professionals delivering radiation.  New licensure laws for the state of Kentucky have been enacted as of February 2009.  The new state regulations were approved in October 2007 requiring an operator’s certificate for those individuals practicing Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, and Radiologist Assistant.  For more information regarding these new regulations please visit the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (Radiation Health Branch).
